A Seattle-based global health non-profit is working on a very early-stage malaria vaccine trial (pre-vaccine … they are investigating the body’s immune response under specific conditions, with the hope of designing a vaccine from their findings). I was rejected from their study (and am still very sad about this) because I didn’t fit the profile of the study participant they needed. Someone else I know is involved in the study, however, and I may be able to second-hand blog (or have her guest-blog) some of her experiences here.
I was reminded to post here about this because I just watched a short clip on malaria efforts in Uganda. There’s nothing particularly shocking about the clip, but it really does a succinct job of highlighting the battle so many populations are facing against this silent killer.
