The definitive book of real American history, written from the point of view of the oppressed, rather than the conquerors. Howard Zinn died last year, after a lifetime of advocacy as one of the world’s finest “radical historians.” If you have any interest in history, especially with an eye to how subordinated peoples have been affected, this is a must read. For those interested in an alternative take on American History, you can do no better than the works of Zinn and Chomsky (or at least Damon and Affleck seem to think so).
If you prefer the audiobook, it’s free on YouTube.
There are also several talks with Zinn on YouTube (free) and Alternative Radio ($5).
