My name is Adam Burtle, I’m thirty-years-old, and reside in Seattle, Washington, USA.
I’m a documentary filmmaker, humanist, and the United States Citizen Ambassador to the United Nations. Like many others, I reached adolescence with the rough idea that magically someday around my eighteenth birthday I’d know what it was that I wanted to be when I grew up. Eighteen came and went, and I spent the intervening years trying to figure out the answer to that question. What I’ve figured out is that I really enjoy a lot of things, and most of them seem to fit the common theme of humanism.
I work for and volunteer with various non-profit organizations around the Pacific Northwest (and in 2010 in West Africa), usually in a role as an educator or filmmaker. I am always looking for new ways to get involved with social change, so please feel free to be in touch if you have a project that I might be interested in, a book to recommend, or just some comments about anything on the site.
My latest film concerns the world-wide efforts to reduce measles mortality and will be finished sometime in mid or late 2011.
